The overall objective of the project is decrease of rates of mortality and morbidity as result of respiratory diseases, including tuberculosis, within the cross-border area.
Main results which should be accomplished under the project include:
- Cross-border Pulmonary Center (with a multimedia room) will be established in Olsztyn, Poland in order to provide the widest possible transfer of knowledge and experience within the partnership’s region, particularly from Olsztyn doctors (familiar with modern methods of treatment used in the European Union) to doctors of Kaliningrad. It will be equipped with all necessary medical and accompanying apparatuses.
- The diagnostic and analytical laboratory at the Hospital No. 3 in Kaliningrad, Russia will undergo renovation, modernization and equipment packaging in order to provide more efficient and reliable diagnosis of tuberculosis in the Kaliningrad region.
- Improvement of the knowledge and skills of employees of both partner hospitals within prevention of respiratory diseases, including tuberculosis through organization of joint educational activities and publication of useful printing and video materials.
