PEOPLES OF THE BALTIC - INTERNATIONAL HISTORICAL REENACTMENT AND MUSIC FESTIVAL

This year Kaliningrad oblast will be hosting International Historical Reenactment and Music Festival ‘PEOPLES OF THE BALTIC’.
The event will pursue the objective of raising awareness among the people in Kaliningrad oblast and its guests about the most interesting events in the early history of our land, and development of cooperation with other areas in the Baltic Sea Region. The festival will bring together participants from different reenactment clubs from Byelorussia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Sweden.


The Festival programme will include:
•    Performance of folk and ancient music players.
•    Reenactment of the Vikings fighting and combat displays;
•    Crafts, games and entertainment of old days for adults and kids;
•    Battlecraft competitions;
•    Horse-riding;
•    Demonstration of ancient crafts;
•    Trying on armour of the period and taking photos;
•    Amber and ivory processing;
•    Historical blacksmithing craft;
•    Old-time fish-tackle production methods
•    Reproduction of historical jewelry;
•    Grain milling on the old-time grain-miller
•    Open-fire brewing and testing of traditional honey drink with wheat flatbreads;
•    Wool-spinning and weaving;
•    Medieval dancing classes;
•    Trade-fair of medieval wares; sale of music CDs;

Welcome to the International Historical Reenactment and Music Festival ‘PEOPLES OF THE BALTIC’.

Venue: end of Gagarin street, Zelenogradsk, Kaliningrad oblast, Russia

Dates: 11.00 a.m. July 13-14, 2013.

Organizers: The Government of Kaliningrad oblast, Administration of ‘Zelenogradsk Region’ Municipality, Zelenogradsk Museum of Local Lore and History, ‘Speaking Water’ Traditional Group, ‘Zelenogradsk Regional SME Support Centre’ Foundation

The event is organized under the International Project ‘Lagoons as crossroads for tourism and interactions of peoples of South-East Baltic’: from the history to present’ under Lithuania-Poland-Russia ENPI CBC Programme 2007-2013.
