INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON THE SUBJECT “GREEN ZONES AS THE PART OF POSITIVE IMAGE OF THE CITY”

On 12 July 2013 in the Kaliningrad hotel “Tourist” international seminar on the subject “Green zones as the part of positive image of the city” was held within the limits of the project “Development of Tourist-Recreational Infrastructure on the basis of Restoration and Preservation of Historical - Cultural Heritage of the Urban Parks”


On the eve of celebration of the City Day of Kaliningrad in the conference-hall of the hotel and recreational complex “Tourist” dedicated experts of Kaliningrad City Administration, members of Kaliningrad Regional Government, directors of city parks, representatives of educational institutes, architects and environmentalists gathered together with delegation from Jurbarkas (Lithuania) in order to discuss the future of town parks and garden squares.
The role of parks and recreational zones in the life of modern towns and their influence on perception of environment of the modern man gave occasion to the meeting. Seminar was organized by the Administration of the urban district “City of Kaliningrad” together with the administration of municipal district of Jurbarkas (Lithuania) under the financial support of the European Union within the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Lithuania-Poland-Russia 2007-2013.

In the course of the event attendees discussed the matters of preservation and restoration of natural and historical heritage (the monuments of landscape and park arts), prospects of development of public green zones and their role in ecological enhancement and increase of tourist attractiveness of the cities through the example of two landscape parks – Kaliningrad Max-Aschmann-Park and park in the city of Jurbarkas.

During the seminar specialists of Kaliningrad and representatives of Lithuanian delegation of Jurbarkas succeeded in discussing announced questions and exchanging experience.
