JURBARKAS ORGANISED INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN SUMMER CAMP AND STARTED WORKS FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF TOWN STADIUM

On 19 to 25 of August 2013 International summer camp was organised in Smalininkai (Jurbarkas district, Lithuania) as one of the activities of project “Infrastructure Development and Cooperation in Health Education” which is implemented by the Administration of Jurbarkas District Municipality together with partners – Administration of Neman Municipal District (Kaliningrad Region, Russia) and District Authority for the Management of Schools and Educational Institutions from Giżycko, Warmińsko-Mazurskie Province (Poland).


More than 120 participants took part in the summer camp from Lithuania, Poland and Kaliningrad District (Russia). Main goal of the camp was the promotion for physical activity and good health of children and youth as well as of the cooperation of the neighbouring countries. During the camp children had a lot of activities, they went carting, bicycling, canoeing, tested endurance  in the rope park tracks, participated in the excursions around the region, were training and took part in sport competitions, also events to get to know each other better and concerts were organised.

Project expenditures are dedicated not only for publications of books and organisation of events, and summer camps for children and inhabitants of Project territory, but also to create infrastructure to involve people in physical activities and help people stay healthy. Therefore on the 22th of August 2013 agreement for the reconstruction works of Jurbarkas Town Stadium was signed with contractor UAB “Statybos ritmas”. During the reconstruction the covering of natural grass will be renovated, new football, rugby gates and modern scoreboard installed, sports equipment purchased, viewing stands with 384 sitting places for supporters and changing rooms for sportsmen constructed, stadium territory newly fenced and parking for cars built.
