EUROPEAN COOPERATION DAY CELEBRATIONS IN PETROZAVODSK (RUSSIA)

On 20 September in Petrozavodsk (Russia) Lithuania-Poland-Russia ENPI CBC Programme 2007-2013 took part in IX Annual Conference “Cross border cooperation: the Russian Federation, the European Union and Norway”. This IX Conference traditionally became a unique platform for a dialogue between the parties interested, where they were able to discuss all the key issues on cross-border and interregional cooperation at all levels.


The participants discussed a current state of cross border cooperation, potential trends and models for its further improvement and ways of joint planning of border areas development. Special attention was paid to the results and lessons learned of the ENPI CBC Programmes 2007-2013.

As a part of European Cooperation Day celebrations, five ENPI CBC Programmes organized a joint exhibition during the event:

- South-East Finland-Russia ENPI CBC;

- Karelia ENPI CBC;

- Kolarctic ENPI CBC;

- Estonia-Latvia-Russia ENPI CBC;

- Lithuania-Poland-Russia ENPI CBC.

The Programmes organized common “promotion corner” where the conference participants could familiarize with projects’ implementation achievements and Programmes’ goals and visuals.  The Programmes were presenting the projects in details on a TV screen as well as video spots. 

The participants of the conference could talk with Programmes’ representatives, receive a lot of brochures, leaflets, newsletters and other materials concerning the European Cooperation Day, the Programmes and projects. A lot of promotional materials, including sweets was distributed during the whole day.

This unique event, a part of European Coopreation Day, which is celebrated each year on 21 September and the surrounding days, was one of many initiatives dignifying more than 20 years of territorial cooperation in Europe. This IX conference in Petrozavodsk (Russia) was excellent occasion to celebrate cooperation in cross-border initiatives between the European Union and Russia, experiences and prospects for the future.
