International premiere of spectacle "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare took place on 10 November 2013  in the Aleksander Sewruk’s Drama Theatre in Elblag (Poland). The performance was undertaken  in the framework of the project "Multicultural dialog – Multicultural theatres – strengthening social and cultural integration of border areas" (LPR1/010/098). The performance was prepared by three theatrical groups - the partners of the project: Drama Theatre in Kaliningrad (Russia), Klaipeda State Musical Theatre (Lithuania) and the leader of a project - Drama Theatre in Elblag.

"Romeo and Juliet " was played for the first time in the international cast including Lithuanian, Polish and Russian actors.  The performance was prepared in Klaipeda, Kaliningrad and Elblag and directed by four directors (Miroslaw Siedler - Poland , Ruta Bunikyte , Ramunas Kaubrys - Lithuania , Mikhail Abramovich Sales- Russia). In the days before the premiere international teams eventually joined the scenes prepared separately and together in one international spectacle. The drama text is not translated – what is actually intended  -  actors speak in their own languages what turns out is not an obstacle to the reception of the performance. The spectacle shows that spoken language is not the only language of  theatre  but also how much we can understand by the actors expression and special  effects (also comic). But in other hand spectacle gained additional effect of trilingual performance and reveals that speaking in two or three languages in one performance can refresh the drama of  “Romeo and Juliet” and give the new character of a play.

The play had met with a good reception of Polish audience.

Soon “Romeo and Juliet” will be staged in the another Program cities - in Klaipeda (January 2014) and Kaliningrad (April 2014).
