THE CLUB OF READING FAMILIES STARTED TO MEET

On 29 January, 2014, the initial meeting of the Club of Reading Families took place at the premises of Marijampole Petras Kriauciunas Public Library. The establishment of the Club of Reading Families and regular meetings are one of the activities of the Project „Cooperation in building up a library for family“ (No. ILPR.02.02.00-72-167/10-00).


“The members of the Club of Reading Families introduced themselves, talked about books, role of reading in the leisure time of family. E.g. the teacher of the information technologies Marius reads even 3 books per week, 7 years old Kristupas likes the series on the witch Lilly written by Knister, the reading is the favourite activity of Irena’s family,”– tells Ana Stočkuvienė, project coordinator.

During the first meeting the project, which is being implemented with the partner from Chernyakhovsk, was presented, the planned and already achieved results were discussed: modernisation works of the branch “Draugystė” (Friendship), which becomes the library for families, the new collection of electronic and audio books, video and audio records, games. New technologies such as e-book readers, interactive educational table, computer programmes in the renewed library were also presented.

The Club of Reading Families is going to meet on last Thursday of every month in the reading-room of art and music of the Marijampole Petras Kriauciunas Public Library. The meetings will take place in the branch “Draugystė” (Friendship) after completion of the reconstruction works.
