INTERNATIONAL YOUTH WINTER ART CAMP

On 13–19 February, 2014, the first creative international youth art winter camp within the project “Joint actions for solving of joint youth problems” (No ILPR.02.02.00-72-186/10-00) is taking place in Šilalė (Lithuania). Three groups consisting of 10 young people of age 10–16 from Šilalė (Lithuania), Pagėgiai (Lithuania) and Sovetsk (Kaliningrad region, Russia) are participating; each group is being supervised by 2 adults.

On the first day the participants got acquainted with the programme and the rules, the first creative lesson of guitar took place. In the evening the festive opening of the camp took place, children introduced themselves, danced traditional folk-dances, sang, recited poetry, acted. 

The Mayor of Šilalė district municipality Mr Jonas Gudauskas participated in the opening event, welcomed participants of the camp and wished them to purposely and joyful spend the time, improve knowledge of foreign languages, find new friends, get some experience and learn something new.

During the camp many educational lessons are planned for youth: carving, decoupage, lessons of theatre, dance, guitar and other music lessons, exchange of best practices, history of Šilalė region, multicultural historic heritage and literature, Lithuanian ethnic culture, art and crafts, active leisure time and excursions, final concert and many other activities.

The aim of the camps is to show the possibilities of informal education, to improve artistic self-expression, to promote cooperation, to get knowledge about other cultures, and to provide possibilities for purposeful leisure time for youth. There are three events planned. The second event will take place in June 2014 in Sovetsk (Kaliningrad Region, Russia), the third and the final event of the project will take place in August 2014 in Pagėgiai (Lithuania).
