Lithuania-Poland-Russia ENPI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013 BW


The final conference of the project „Cooperation in building up a library for family” (No. ILPR.02.02.00-72-167/10-00) took place on the 7th of August, 2014, in Marijampole. The conference was organised by the Beneficiary, Marijampole Petras Kriauciunas Public Library (Lithuania).

The vice-mayor of Marijampole municipality Sigitas Valančius in his welcome speech stressed that the library is not only a place for information, but also space for education and leisure time for a family.

Dr. Ramunė Jurkuvienė (the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences) has summarised the concept of a family, family self-confidence and significance of the family in raising a personality.

Project coordinator Alma Stočkuvienė presented the project: its objectives, tasks, achieved results, sustainability of the project achievements, developed website

The conference participants watched a short movie on the “Draugystė” (Friendship) branch.

Oksana Petlevanaja (the project partner, Chernyakhovsk municipal institution “Centralized Library System” (Kaliningrad Region, Russian Federation)) presented achieved results, implemented activities, discussed the significance of the project for the general public and families of Chernyakhovsk.

Dr. Živilė Advilonienė (Marijampole College) presented the research of the attitudes of the families from Marijampole and Chernyakhovsk towards meeting the needs for leisure time, information and education in a public library, summarised findings of the research, talked about similarities and differences of project partner libraries.

Danutė Lukšiene, head of the “Draugystė” (Friendship) branch of the Marijampole Petras Kriauciunas Public Library, talked about increased number of readers, changed role of the library, and Violeta Ruseckienė, compiler of the publication „Biblioteka šeimai: siekiai ir galimybės“ (A library for a family: objectives and possibilities“) presented the publication prepared and published during the implementation of the project.

The final conference summarised the achievements of the project, that ends on the 15th of August, 2014: reconstructed and fully equipped “Draugystė” (Friendship) branch in Marijampole, implemented repair works in the readers center in Chernyakhovsk; established function zones, acquired books, games and movies, organised exhibitions and meetings of the Club of Reading Families, developed website, prepared and implemented educational activities, published publication.
