PAGĖGIAI TOURISM INFORMATION CENTRE INVITES TO EXPERIENCE 3D IMPRESSIONS AND TO VISIT PAGĖGIAI LAND

On the 11th of November 2014, the closing conference of the project “Development of tourism information system and cultural tourism infrastructure in Pagegiai-Sovetsk cross-border region” (LPR1/010/040) took place in Vilkyškiai (Lithuania).

At the start of the event, the Tourism Information Centre (TIC) of Pagėgiai municipality was oficially inaugurated. The TIC was equipped and established as a result of the project in in the building of the old primary school of Vilkyškiai, one of the most beautiful towns of Pagėgiai municipality. It was in the premises of the TIC, where the final conference of the project took place.

The mayor of Pagėgiai municipality Virginijus Komskis and other guests made welcome speeches. The directors of the Pagėgiai and Sovetsk (Russia) tourism information centres signed the cooperation agreement. The Marketing strategy of the Pagėgiai TIC, prepared as part of the project, too, was presented and discussed.

The participants of the conference were mostly interested in the presentation of the premises of the TIC. From now on, Pagėgiai will greet the tourists coming to the region not only by providing usual information about the places to visit, but also by inviting to an interactive 3D room, furbished in the shape of a narrow-train carriage, where the history of the narrow-railway „Pagėgiai-Smalininkai“ is told and the literature of Johanes Bobrowski is presented. The visitors of the TIC will be able to enjoy the exhibitions in the exposition room. Also, the TIC can accommodate seminars, negotiations and meetings.

The participants of the conference were also invited for an organ and solo music concert in the Vilkyškiai Evangelical Lutheran church – one of the most subtle red-brick churches in Lithuania. This gave the guests to opportunity to learn how interesting Pagėgiai land is. It also proves that Pagėgiai needed the TIC for a long time. Tourists will be able to travel to Rambynas mound, Martynas Jankus publishing house-museum in Bitėnai and plenty of manors.

During the implementation of the project “Development of tourism information system and cultural tourism infrastructure in Pagegiai-Sovetsk cross-border region” the Sovetsk Tourism Information Centre also opened. The partners, Administration of Pagėgiai Municipality and Administration of Sovetsk City District exchanged their experience in the field of tourism and created joint tourist routes in the municipalities, separated only by the Nemunas River.
