LIBRARY FOR FAMILY WON COMPETITION TO PRESENT THE PROJECT DURING INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

A jury representing the Professional Committee of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) has selected the poster “Family friendly library! A modern family oriented library of Marijampolė – first in Lithuania” submitted by the Marijampolė Petras Kriaučiūnas Public Library for the competition to be presented during the Poster session of the 81st IFLA General Conference and Assembly.

The 81st IFLA General Conference and Assembly themed “Dynamic Libraries: Access, Development and Transformation” will take place on 15-21 August 2015 in Cape Town, the Republic of South Africa. This event is the most important annual international event of library associations, attended by more than 4000 delegates. The event aims at presenting new tendencies in library informational technologies, modern management models, sharing experiences, initiatives, related to strengthening of importance of libraries in creating of knowledge society, presenting successful library projects, increasing cooperation network. The Poster session is very important for dissemination of best practices and “ideas fair” because it offers possibility for libraries and libraries associations to present their projects, activities, ideas while communicating in person with colleagues, disseminating of leaflets and gadgets. Contacts are made and ideas for common projects are born during the session. Alina Jaskūnienė, head of the Lithuanian Librarians Association will represent the project “Cooperation in building up a library for family” at the Poster session. The project was implemented by the Marijampolė Petras Kriaučiūnas Public Library (the Beneficiary, Lithuania) and Chernyakhovsk municipal institution “Centralized Library System” (Russia).
