CLOSING CONFERENCE OF PROJECT LPR1/010/185 TOOK PLACE

During the implementation period of the project, the fundament of the Monument, commemorating the Tauroggen Convention, was built in Staigine village. The monument itself was erected using the funds of the Taurage “Rotary” Club. A bicycle path was laid from the centre of Taurage to Staigine village. Pedestrian and bicycle bridges were built over the rivers of Jura and Ezeruona. A parking lot was constructed by the Tauroggen Convention Monument.
During the closing conference, the project achievements in Taurage and Sovetsk (ex Tilsit) towns were presented. The Russian partner of Taurage District Municipality Administration – Administration of Sovetsk City District – has decorated the town by building a “Napoleon’s Lime Tree” memorial, renovating the town park and restoring a monument to Queen Luise of Prussia. S stand of historic Tilsit, consisting of 300 houses will soon be opened at the entrance to the town park.
2,6 million of Euro of the European Union co-financing has been allocated to the project under the Lithuania-Poland-Russia ENPI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013.
