A new Palanga sport hall constructed under the project “Baltic Touristic Games – know-how for development of tourism potential of Baltic Region” (No. LPR1/010/181) is intensively used for various sport events. It has perfectly filled a gap that existed in Palanga, when professional sportsmen could find good conditions to live, rest and exercise outdoors, but they did not have a proper sports hall.

There are 1100 seats in the tribunes for the devoted sport fans. In the area of 4 thousand square metres several competitions of different sport types can be held at the same time, as the hall can be transformed in to several different areas.
The purchased boxing ring and equipment allowed to expand the variety of services. On 11-13 of June 2015 the box championship of Lithuanian Rural Communities took place in the new Palanga sport hall.
In July 2015, the national men’s basketball team of Lithuania had their trainings in Palanga Spart Hall, while preparing for the European championship - Eurobasket 2015. Gintaras Krapikas, the coach of the national team, praised the new place: “it’s a big help for our preparation, the new gym, everything is new and we have more baskets in the gym, we can use more people for individual practice so it’s for sure a big help for us”.
One of the basketball leaders, player Renaldas Seibutis, raised in Palanga, was also happy about the better training conditions: “everything we need is here, the conditions of the basketball preparation and physical preparation is on the high level”.
The new sport hall creates good conditions for Lithuanian and foreign sportsmen to train and prepare for responsible competitions all year round in Palanga.
