GREEN LIGHT WAS GIVEN TO THE SECOND SME SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Grant contract to the amount of 355 985.85 Euro of Programme contribution was signed between JMA and Marijampole Branch Office of Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts (Lithuania). Beneficiary together with partner from Lithuania - Kaunas Regional Development Agency, and two partners from Russia - Kaliningrad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Fund “Victoria” – will implement the project by the title “Create4Compete – Creativity for boosting Competence and Competitiveness” contributing to Priority 2. Pursuing social, economic and spatial development, Measure 2.3 Increasing competitiveness of small and medium entrepreneurs and development of the labour market. Total budget of the project makes approximately 395 thousand Euro.

It is one of the first projects that will invest people’s effort to the development of SMEs in the Programme area. The key idea of the project is to encourage the competitiveness and cross-border co-operation of SMEs and business support structures in Lithuanian counties of Marijampole and Kaunas and Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. Specific objectives include strengthening of business support organizations, raising the competitiveness and entrepreneurship, enhancement of cooperation among SMEs of the project areas.

Following activities will be undertaken within the project so as to achieve the abovementioned goals:

• Measures aimed on raising the competence and creativity of business support organizations including training and coaching events.

• Actions centred on improving the material base of partners’ organizations for providing better intermediary support services for SMEs.

• Activities strengthening the capacities of entrepreneurship and competitiveness of SMEs in the project areas of Lithuania and Russia.

• Strengthening of innovative and creative capacities of SMEs which are interested in starting the cross-border business between Lithuania and Russia (Kaliningrad region).

• Creation and development of the networks between partners’ organizations, SMEs’ and coachers by the use of newly established thematic Internet portal.

• Strengthening of cooperation between business representatives in order to develop common ideas for starting the cross-border business.

Throughout whole course of the project partners will provide sustainable management of activities for which purpose they create the constant managerial team. Also they foresee the sufficient base of visibility measures in order to advocate the objectives of the project at the same time fulfilling the condition of the Programme.
